OrthoLoneStar FAQ

Legacy Orthopedics + Sports Medicine Joins OrthoLoneStar

Legacy Orthopedics + Sports Medicine is proud to announce that we are becoming the 7th Division of OrthoLoneStar—the largest independently operated orthopedic practice in Texas. This partnership allows us to remain true to our physician-led, patient-first model while expanding access to advanced resources, clinical expertise, and statewide care.

We remain the same trusted physicians you know and value. Our new affiliation simply strengthens our ability to provide exceptional outcomes while protecting independence in how medicine is practiced.

Why OrthoLoneStar?

By joining with other leading groups across Texas, we can share expertise, streamline access to advanced therapies, and improve patient care pathways—all while ensuring medicine stays in the hands of doctors, not corporate offices.

What Will You Notice?

  • Updated signage, materials, and branding to reflect Legacy Orthopedics + Sports Medicine, a Division of OrthoLoneStar

  • Our name appearing on appointment reminders, statements, and medical records

  • Continued care from the same physicians, in the same locations, with the same commitment to excellence

Insurance & Coverage Updates

Effective December 31, 2025, Legacy Orthopedics will no longer be in-network with Health Insurance Marketplace plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield (Blue Advantage Value) or Oscar Health.

  • Surgeries for patients with these plans will not be scheduled after October 31, 2025.

  • Patients may still be seen out-of-network; however, if your plan does not include out-of-network benefits, visits will be billed as self-pay.

Accepted Marketplace Plans for 2026:

  • Scott and White Health Plan

  • Ambetter (NOT the Value Plan)

Marketplace open enrollment begins November 1, 2025. If you currently rely on BAV or Oscar, we encourage you to review your options and consider switching to an accepted plan to maintain in-network benefits.

If you need guidance, our team is here to answer questions and help you navigate your options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my doctor change?
No. You will continue to see the same Legacy Orthopedics physicians at our current locations.

Why are these insurance plans no longer accepted?
As an independent, physician-led practice, we sometimes cannot accept restrictive terms imposed by certain insurance providers. Partnering with OrthoLoneStar allows us to continue providing excellent care while making responsible decisions for long-term sustainability.

Can I still receive care if my insurance is out-of-network?
Yes. Claims will process out-of-network. If your plan does not include out-of-network benefits, you can be seen as a self-pay patient.
